When my calendar allows it, I offer developmental editing and consultation for essays, stories, screenplays, and select book-length projects. This can range from the big-picture visioning of structuring a project; to diving into a completed draft for a holistic assessment of its achievements, its potential, and where it’s falling short; to generating imaginative and productive revisions and rewrites in response to agent, editorial, and studio notes; to close reading and line edits that can transform a manuscript from good to great.

I specialize in working with writers on structure and form, developing multilayered characters, upending clichés, and crafting sharp, vibrant prose. Honed over years of teaching and editing, my style is collaborative and intensive, tough on the writing but gentle on the writer. I want your work to be yours, in your voice, and I want it to succeed on its own terms.

Projects I’ve worked on include:

  • start-to-finish developmental editing on a New York Times bestseller

  • close editorial feedback on complete novel drafts and essay collections, from first draft to publication

  • extensive collaborative rewrites on a feature screenplay for a film forthcoming from a major streaming service

  • story editing and ghostwriting on a screenplay adaptation for a major studio and production company

  • consultation and rewrites on television pilots and series outlines

  • close mentorship and editorial guidance on several book-length graduate and honors theses in fiction, memoir, and creative nonfiction

  • copy edits on countless articles, essays, stories, and books, both in my capacity as a professional copy editor and for writer friends and colleagues

My time is limited, so in order to give each project my full and best attention, I am selective about what I can take on. If you’re interested in exploring the possibility of working together, please get in touch. I’d love to hear what you’re working on and set up a conversation to find out if we’re a good fit.
